Color Me Rad

I've been wanting to run a 5k for a while, I've signed up, flaked out, never got around to it. But when I saw the Color Me Rad Race, I knew I had to do it.

I talked my sister (and a few friends, who couldn't make it) into doing it......

Pre-Race. So pretty and clean!

Waiting for it to start.... chillin at the start line, freezing our butts off!

So during the race, you run through 4 or 5 color bomb stations.
This is what Kayla looked like after one of them..... good thing they gave us those sweet sunglasses to wear, right?

And this is what I looked like.....

By the end of the race, we were COVERED, which made me incredibly happy.
I'm pretty sure I have the most gorgeous sister ever, she's adorable!
And, I think everyone looks better while covered in hot pink powder, right?

Me, trying to see through the powder....

Check out those legs! Ow oww!

It's safe to say Kayla's pants are ruined.....

As is the entire outfit I was wearing... all for a good cause though!

pssst... check out the girl in green behind me..... ha! She got NAILED!

And, just so you know the SHEER AWESOMENESS that you missed out on..... there it is.
Gorgeous, Neon, Color Bombs, flying through the air.
Oh. Swoon.
If that's not the most beautiful thing you've ever seen..... right? It was AWESOME.

For the record, our skin was STAINED.

And it's safe to say that nearly every inch of my body was covered in this stuff, even the sections underneath the clothing.
I'll definitely be repeating this again next year, and whether I know you or not, you should join me!

Thoughts on A Thursday

Another Thursday, Another collection of my RANDOM thoughts.

Wait. WHAT?! 27 minutes of running equates to ONE. MEASLY. POUND. So you know what this means? I am thinking I need to run for longer. I need to suffer a bit more. 27 minutes for 1 pound. Hmmmmm....

The new camera apps on my phone have me taking photos of tons of random stuff. Like my neck (isn't the pattern on my dress cute?), or the curtains in my bedroom. They're white. So not much to look at. In one afternoon I had over 200 photos. That's kind of a problem.

& I'm pretty sure I never posted this photo here. It's me & Dani, best friend in the world. We went with all of our best friends to the movie the Lucky One, which btw, was dramatic but good, you should go see it! Anyway, on the car ride home, I almost killed us 3 times. We were laughing so hard that we couldn't breathe, she was snorting, and I was clutching the wheel trying to see through my tears. I literally slowed to 10mph. It was awesome..... just something I want to remember.

Favorite Quote This Week

Two quotes again this week, trying to make up for lost time, and there are so many that I want to share!

Kind of heavy, right? This can mean a million different things, and I'm sure each of you will probably get something different from it. But when I read it, I thought of it as a message, of how they wasted their lives, and became nothing other than the things they strived to acheive but couldn't. They were nothing more than living ghosts, haunting each other with what could be.
That's my favorite part.
Live in the moment.
That's what this quote is all about to me. To stop wishing for things to change, to want more than you have now. Be content and let things happen as they will, stop obsessing.

And, to end on a happy, more swoon worthy quote......

Because if this isn't swoon worthy, I really don't know what is.
I've read this a hundred times, and it still makes me smile.

Also, these are both printable jpegs (can be printed up to 8x10), people have emailed asking before. So just fyi!

The Porch

Quick weekend summary: replanted plants, did some projects, went sailing for the first time (oh swoon), another first? My basement flooding because a pipe burst, aaaaand I ran 5.5 miles in an attempt to get ready for the 5K I have this weekend. Now, onto something fun ;).

So I had the below planter on my porch all last year (and I think the year before) I loved it, but the color blended too much with the house.

So, since I got my rocking chairs all put together, I thought it would be a good time to give this little planter an update.

Don't they look so cute?!

I colored the planter with a spray paint called 'Lagoon' I think it was Krylon, even though I normally use Rustoleum brand.

And now, I can chill on the front porch, in my sweet black rocking chairs. Which I did just yesterday, and enjoyed VERY much.

Now, I just need to wait for it to warm up enough for me to fill my beds with flowers. Hate, (HATE) that I have to wait until after Mother's Day.

Happy Monday everyone!

I really think I'm going to hang this somewhere in my house. I think you should too.

What Ryan doesn't realize is that Tim is actually gay....

I admit, I laughed a lot at this one. Dani - I know you agree!

must try. has anyone tried this??

Introducing..... Countdown Style

So Liesl, did a Countdown about herself on her blog, and I thought it would be perfect as an intro for the Send Something Good introduction that I need to do about myself. It's a lot! Probably MUCH MORE than you want to know about me, but hey, you can skip parts, and I'll NEVER know!

This is ME:

TEN things I wish I could say to ten different people (but don't say their name):

1. You are a coward.
2. I think the way you view life is incredibly freeing, and I wish I could be a bit more like you.
3. I still wish we had gone on that date.
4. Guess what? It's gonna be okay.
5. Thank you for the message you wrote, you told me I had depth, was beautiful, funny, and so much more. Your words meant more than you realize.
6. You. You're my favorite memory when I think of an entire summer. I was so happy, too young to see past anything but the tall grass. It was wonderful.
7. You are so much more than you are doing in life right now, and I don't understand why you're letting it all pass you by.
8. I'm sorry I let you down, you deserved so much more.
9. What's your favorite color?
10. You are the most wonderful friend a girl could hope for. Really, you are.
NINE things about myself:

1. I've never had my fortune told. I've had my palm read, which was so interesting. It's on my bucket list though.
2. I LOVE plays and ballets. But I really want to go to the opera.
3. My eyes are my favorite feature, they've got yellow sunflowers in the centers, most people don't notice that.
4. I can shape my tongue into a 3 leaf clover.
5. I really want to spend a day at the beach, doing absolutely nothing. One day.....
6. When I was younger, I used to read the dictionary, and when my eyes got tired, I'd read the stories in the Reader's Digest.
7. I love to climb trees.
8. I want to own a ballgown. My friend Jen and I have planned for years to throw a masqued ball, just so we could buy ballgowns and dance the night away.
9. I love to be creative, even if I don't finish the mass majority of my projects.

EIGHT ways to win my heart:

1. It's the little things, brushing my hair from my eyes, holding my hand, anything that let's me know you just want to be next to me.
2. Surprises.
3. Letters in the mail.
4. Humor, I love nothing more than a good giggle.
5. Names.
6. Stargaze with me.
7. Chivalry.
8. Kisses, always kisses.

SEVEN things that cross my mind a lot:

1. The Past.
2. Ideas I want to try from Pinterest. So Pinteresting!
3. Gardening Ideas.
4. Finishing my house.
5. Love.

2. Shower / Wash my face / Put on socks (can't sleep well without them!)
3. Play Sudoku
4. Write "To Do" lists
5. Check my alarms for the morning

FIVE people who mean a lot (in no order whatsoever and no boys allowed!):

1. Dani
2. James - my nephew, he's not considered a 'boy' ;).
3. Dayna

Favorite Quote This Week

Two quotes this week, it's been too long since I've done a favorite weekly quote.

I count myself lucky to have a handful of friends this quote applies to.

Fortune favours the brave. So get out there and DO IT. Whatever your 'it' is.
Run wild, break the rules, live a little. That's my plan for this year. Do a million things that I've been wanting to do, and haven't, or have chickened out from doing.
Fortune doesn't favour the girl who steps back,
the one who's too afraid to try.
Fortune favors the girl who jumps.

Always

I have had a few people tell me that their life was indeed sad, because they didn't know what this tatoo meant. So, let me explain.
1. You guys really need to read the Harry Potter Series.
2. I realize that, Yes, I am a nerd. I'm okay with it.
and, now for the explanation.

The symbol in the A, is comprised of the 3 deathly hallows (again, read the books).
And the term Always, is what Severus says, when Albus asks him if he has loved Lily after all these years.
After she has died.
After everything that's happened.
His response?

"Always."

This is the short clip.

And this is the longer one, that will explain it a little better.

In the books, which mainly spanned a period of 7 years, Severus was horrible. I despised him.
He was mean, arrogant, cruel even.
It's not until the very end, that you see what he had hidden for more than a decade.
See how tormented he had been.
And just how much he loved Lily, who he loved when he was a child, who chose someone else once they grew older, who then died too soon. And after all that happened, all the time, and all the pain...... he not only loved her, but was still in love with her.

Wonderful. Heartbreaking, but wonderful all the same. Alan Rickman (who portrayed Severus in the films) is an amazing actor. I think I'm coming to realize that this kind of undying love only happens in tragedies, or books and movies. And that's okay. Fairytales and love stories are what makes girls like me hopeful. Even if the realist inside me knows that it's never going to happen. I can be okay with that. I can live vicariously through the Romeo's and Severus' in films and writing. I can be outwardly hopeful while realizing inside that I may never have something like that. And it's wonderful because it IS a tragedy. The happily ever after never played out, those notes ended before they ever hit the chorus. Because Lily chose someone else. Because Lily died. Because Severus, for his whole life long, never had anyone else, never wanted anyone else, and no one else ever wanted him. That's real.

But I love this story, and I love Severus. I love his hopeless devotion, the endless love that he has for Lily, that wasn't returned, and can never be. I love how wonderful he is, even though no one but Albus realizes it. And I love and hate, that I didn't find all of it out, until the last chapter of his life.

"After all this time?" asked Albus.

"Always".

The Funnies

Sky's out Thighs out. LOL. That has got to be the best sign ever made.

Thoughts on a Thursday

So I'm having an off day, full of random thoughts like these.....

I am so hopeful for summer this year. That I'll actually do all the things I want. Have adventures. The kind worth remembering. Even if it all happens in my own back yard. Get a tan. Drink Capri Suns and Eat Otter Pops. Fly kites. Sidewalk Chalk It for an afternoon. Take photos. Just be free.

If I ever get a tatoo..... it'll be this. But maybe in white. If you don't know what that first symbol represents, you've led a sad life. And you should fix it, stat.
I think to have that kind of devotion though, would be wonderful.
Here it's just heartbreaking, but still so wonderful.
This phrase changed my thoughts about him forever, that's when he became my new favorite.

My thoughts on this? This girl is hot..... what the hell is MY problem??
Need to get on this stat. Track tonight anyone?

And, I think everyone needs a funny to lift their spirits every now and again. And this one lifted mine. I love this movie. This is my favorite kids movie I've seen in recent years.

I'm a Little Excited

For 2 reasons.

1. I got black rocking chairs for my front porch. I've been wanting these for about 2 years now, and have just been putting it off. There's been a lot of that lately, so I'm in project mode. Which, I kind of think always happens with me when the weather warms up.

This is what they look like. I put one together last night, and while it was easy, it kind of kicked my butt for a minute. I have to put together the other one, and then I'll be posting legit photos.

and 2. My little puppy. Who likes to cuddle.

& Then There Were 2

Easter Sunday was.... eventful.
Partly because instead of having 1 puppy, I now have 2.

Meet Oliver. Who doesn't know his name yet.
Other things he also doesn't know yet?
1. where to go to the bathroom
2. it's not appreciated when he whines ALL NIGHT LONG
3. Clothes, shoes, and my pretty blue rug are not chew toys
4. Phoebe cannot stand him

Case in point..... Phoebe, looking beleagured.

All she does is give him the cold shoulder, like this. She's gotten smarter though. She realized she's faster than he is, so she now runs away from him.

She makes sure she's as FAR away from him as possible when she's near me.

He has one ear that flops, and one that stands straight.

Except this morning, the floppy ear is standing perfectly straight. I'm thinking of having him wear a headband to hold one of them down. (joke people, it's a joke).

Anyway, I'm kind of wildly in love with him even though he is driving me crazy at the same time. Hopefully Phoebe falls in love with him too, otherwise she may just eat him.
