Send Something Good Project

Send Something Good was originally Package Pals, and I was thrilled to find out the 'getting to know random people from across the globe' would be continuing. The girl I got to meet through the web was Rebecca at Just a Dreamer. My only wish was that she posted more!

I saw from her blog that she likes to craft, but has a hard time getting around to it. She loves to journal, decorate journals, and she's a huge fan of music. So I sent her a LOT of crafting goodies/supplies (you might recognize them from my most favorite company ever! DCWV. I sent her a calendar, and a bunch of journals. And, I made her a sign in photoshop that says Dream Chaser, since that seemed to be her 'mantra'. She seemed like such a fun girl, Rebecca I hope you post more often!

Cute Ashley over at Fairview Place had me for the Send Something Good Project.

Everything she sent me was wrapped in prints from magazines, which I LOVED. Original yeah?

The goods. As you can see, Oliver was REALLY into the box, he wanted to be a part of all the action.

So it was extra fun when I came across this little package that said, 'for your pooches!!' Oliver was on the little hairbrush bone in two seconds flat.

I opened everything, sat back, and thought how awesome it was that she REALLY took the time to get to know me/stalkerize me through my blog, because I ABSOLUTELY loved everything. She even sent me flower seeds. I'm crazy about flowers. I adored all of it, especially those map cards, so wonderful!

This whole project is about getting to know people, connecting, even though you might never meet the person you 'get to know'. But it's not just about getting to know the people you had, and the people who had you, it's about making a connection with A LOT of people. So see all the people in the link below? Go check out their blogs, follow them (hey, follow me!), and make a few new friends.

The Sidewalk

This weekend I did something I haven't done in a long time.
I sidewalk chalked.
And loved it.

Oliver loved it too. Because he realized that there were now at least 9 pieces of chalk that he could try to steal. So he spent the entire time stealing them, I spent half my time chasing him down, and Phoebe just watched it all happen like we were both idiots and not worth her time.

Thoughts on a Thursday

So I have FINALLY gotten hooked on instagram, and oh.my.word. I'm in love with it! They make ordinary photos look amazing!

This photo right here is why I am madly in love with the summer. Giant bumblebees and delphinium flowers. So gorgeous. I love flowers just about as much as anything else in the world. I'd be content to wander through a nursery or even the flower section in home depot for a long while without getting bored.

I also love all things England. The accent, the tradition, the old dresses, and tea. Now I'm not a huge lover of drinking tea. But having a tea? A high tea, in which we serve tea, crumpets, and all other manner of yumminess? Oh yes. Which is why I'm having my very first Tea Party. And I'm oh so excited. My friend Jen and I already went to Burlington Coat Factory and chose our hats. So lovely!

It's official. For the first time in EVER, I am getting a summer tan.
My sister Kayla was SHOCKED.

2 Pup's and a Waterballoon

So this weekend a lot of flower planting and adventures happened. But in between all of that, Phoebe and Oliver had a chance to play with some water balloons. Phoebe was able to carry a few in her mouth before they popped, it was funny to watch.

No words needed for the below photos, you can totally see what happened.

Running away from the scene of the crime!
Cutest puppies EVER.

Happy Monday everyone!

Thoughts on a Thursday Afternoon

So, I'm thinking a million things today, about quotes, friends, love, projects, bucket lists, and the flat of flowers in my garage that I'm not sure are EVER going to get planted. So let's just start, shall we?

Take what you will from this one..... I don't want to explain.

Exactly. Saw this and loved it, because there's not many that really do this. Is there?
I'm lucky to have a few.

And, I've got this list, a bucket list, that's always growing, I seem to keep adding to it, and never whittling it down, so I'm going to get started. Now. Here are a few things that I want to try and do by the end of the year...... in no particular order.

1. I want to spend the entire day at the beach. I want to wake up when I'm still tired, slather on the sunblock and hit the sand. I want to lay there, read a book, splash in the waves and retreat back to my towel in the sand.

2. Exactly what it says, I want to dance in the rain, warm rain, in the summertime.
3. I want to eventually do this and travel to wherever in the world the dart lands, but for now, I'll settle for doing this with a map of where I live (just Utah) and see where it takes me.
4. I want to pick a cookbook, and make every single recipe inside of it, even if it looks terrible.
5. Go to NYC.
6. Go camping, in my own back yard.
& go camping everywhere else.

I'm always looking for fun ideas to add to my list, do you have an interesting bucket list item?

KDerby RoundUp and Strawberry Jam

The hats at the Kentucky Derby this year, didn't disappoint. I loved almost all of them. These were my favorites....

The bigger the better....

This one is probably my favorite.....

So, who's in for a tea party? Because I am pretty sure my life won't be the same unless I have a party that requires me to wear/make one of these beauties.

And, this weekend, I made my very own Strawberry Freezer Jam, for the first time ever.
And, I thought two things, well three:
1. It tasted GOOOOOOOOOD.
2. HOLY SHIT there is a LOT of sugar in jam!!
3. I feel like a total Martha Stewart.

Anyone want the recipe? Well, you're in luck, here it is....

FREEZER STRAWBERRY JAM
2 c. crushed strawberries
4 c. sugar
3/4 c. water
1 box powdered pectin
Stir first 2 ingredients in bowl. Bring water and pectin to a boil and boil 1 minutes, stirring constantly. Add pectin mixture to fruit and stir 3 minutes. Pour into jars to within 1-inch from top. Put on cap and screw band tight.
Let stand at room temperature for 24 hours or until set, then freeze. Makes 6 half-pints.
Word to the wise, make sure your strawberries are crushed before you start boiling your water and pectin, saves a lot of stress. I was surprised with how easy it was!

Thoughts on a Thursday Afternoon

Every year I wait for the Kentucky Derby to be over (this weekend!!).

I wait, because then all the amazing hats are put right on the internet for my viewing pleasure.
I don't have a whole lot of interest in going to the KDerby for the racing (although it would be fun to watch), I want to go so I can wear a hat  that's a million times bigger and brighter than the ones you see here. I've planned the last few years to have a tea party at my house JUST so I can have an excuse to make a hat like these ones.

This one is so wonderfully hideous I HAD to include it.

This man looks RIDICULOUS and I love it, bahahahaha.
