I haven't posted about my chicks in a long time. Maybe ever? I can't remember.
But for the record, I have 3 little chickies
(there were 4, but we lost Ruby a few weeks ago to a mangy, hateful, dog)
and it was kind of the saddest thing ever.
Rex, Lola, and Henrietta (all girls) are still here and going strong.
Although I did accidentally drop mouse poison in the yard today,
so keep your fingers crossed that I managed to pick it all up
(really do, I'm kind of worried).
Anyway, my little chickies make me happy.
Their colors, the story of how they came to be a part of the family,
their defiant and sassy personalities,
and most especially, the colors of the eggs they lay.
See??! So fun right?? They are casually known as Easter Eggers. Clearly because the sweet pastel colors their eggs are. My nephew James was over and asked who colored the eggs. When I told him the chickens did, he said "HOW?! Amy, the chickens don't even have hands!!".
He was scandalized by the whole thought of it.
Made me giggle.
Rex in front, Lola in the middle, and Henrietta hiding in the back.
Rex always goes right back into the coop, but Lola and Henrietta take turns driving me crazy and making me chase them across the yard and around and around the chicken coop.
So silly.

What do your dogs think of the chickens? The house we bought has a chicken coop and I really kind of want some chickens, but A. My husband is vehemently opposed to it and B. I'm afraid my dog will kill them! Not sure if he'd do it on purpose, on accident, or just out of sheer curiosity mixed with clumsiness, but I just have this feeling that their immediate demise would be inevitable.
Lovely little beauties :D
Rex is my favorite. I love all her colors.
That is adorable about James!! They dont even have hands lol!
